Item No. 78558 SILESIA: AR medal (8.71g), 1742, crowned arms of Prussia & Hungary with with dove above and legdend "peace, peace" in German, below date of the Prussian occupation of Breslau, June 27th / religous text in German with date in cronogram, Extremely Fine, R. This medal commemorates the end of the First Silesian War. After a two-month campaign, Prussian forces occupied Silesia, which belonged to the Bohemian Crown of the Habsburg possessions. In 1741 the Prussians defeated the Austrians in the Battle of Mollwitz near Brieg. In the Peace of Breslau 1742 most of Silesia was ceded to Prussia and was organized into the Silesian province. |
