UMAYYAD: Anonymous, ca. 740-750, AE fals (2.75g), NM, ND, A-163.1, W-605. SNAT-28/31, Bone-7.3, 5-branch candelabra in obverse center / 2nd half of kalima, without crescent, pleasing Fine to Very Fine, R, from an American collection.
This type has been assigned to Iliya (Jerusalem) by both Ilisch and Bone. The candelabra is interpreted either as a form of the Jewish menorah, or if held upside-down, the dome of a mosque!
