Yuan Shikai was an important Chinese general and politician famous for his influence during the late Qing Dynasty, his role in the events leading up to the abdication of the last Qing Emperor of China, his autocratic rule as the first President of the Republic of China, and his short-lived attempt to revive the Chinese monarchy, with himself as the "Great Emperor of China". He took the nien hao (reign title), Hongxian (Constitutional Abundance), on January 1, 1916 but never held a accession rite and he abandoned monarchism on March 22, 1916. He did on June 6 of the same year. The only other coin with his title as Hongxian is the silver dollar Y-332 type and although it is much more expensive than this type, this is the rarer of the two.
