CIVIC COPPER: Iranian occupation, 1624-1638, AE falus (3.01g), Baghdad, ND, A-3221G, lion & sun / inscription falus zarb-e baghdad, lovely Very Fine, RRR.
Two factors indicate that this piece must be an Iranian rather than an Ottoman issue. (1) The denomination falus is normal on Iranian coppers, never found on Ottoman, including issues of Baghdad. (2) Although the lion occurs on a few copper mangirs of Süleyman I struck at Damascus, there is never the sun behind the lion. View details and enlarged photos

CIVIC COPPER: AE falus (3.79g), Qandahar, AH1308, A-3253, KM-D101, crown-in-wreath on obverse, choice Very Fine, RR.
The crown on this very rare type somewhat resembles the British crown that appeared on the copper fulus of Qandahar during the second British invasion in 1878-1879 (AH1296 on the coins). The reason for the crown on this type is unknown. View details and enlarged photos
