FATIMID: al-Hakim, 996-1021, AV dinar (4.07g), Atrabulus, AH412, A-709A, Nicol-1033, posthumous issue, extremely rare mint, Fine.

Citing his cousin 'Abd al-Rahman as heir-apparent to the Fatimid caliphate. This is the last series of the Atrabulus mint (Tripoli in Libya), struck posthumously in the name of al-Kamil until AH416, the last group of Fatimid coins from this mint. Nicol-1491 & 1492, dated AH426 and 431, are not Fatimid, but anonymous coins of the Banu Hilal (which he incorrectly assigns to the Khazrunids).

This is last Algerian Ottoman coin to retain the particle before the mint name, i.e., al-Jaza'ir. There are no coins reported for 1142, and in 1143, following the accession of Mahmud I, the mint name is always written as Jaza'ir, without the particle.

GUPTA: Kumaragupta I, 414-455, AV stater (8.12g), Altekar, plate XI, 14-15, swordsman type, king / deity Lakshmi, bold strike, one of the rarest types of Kumaragupta I, Extremely Fine, RRR.

Obverse: Kumaragupta standing, his left hand resting on the hilt of his sword, right hand offering incense, with the Garuda standard behind. The obverse inscription translates to "having conquered the earth, Kumaragupta (also) wins the heaven by his meritorious acts" (translation by Altekar), with the letter "ku" and a crescent to the right. Reverse: Lakshmi seated on a lotus, holding a noose in her right hand, the Gupta tamgha to the left, the inscription to the right, which is a repeat of the king's name. Appears to be die-identical to Altekar XI:14.

INDO-GREEK: Eukratides I, ca. 170-145 BC, AR tetradrachm (16.93g), Bop-8x, heroic portrait of the king, shown from behind, wearing the Boiotian helmet and holding the javelin / the two Dioscuri, with palms and lances, on horseback, lovely Very Fine, R.

This is one of the most remarkable types of the Indo-Greek series, a wonderful design that has been copied until modern times. This piece has a few small flan cracks, having been deeply struck in order to emphasize the bold design, probably because the planchet was insufficiently heated. All and all, a lovely example of this remarkable type.
The monogram on the reverse is not listed by Bopearachchi on this type (his monogram #159, which appears on other coins of Eukratides I).
